Carrageenan-questions about use for humans-problem for animals

According to my best friend WIKIPEDIA—Carrageenans or carrageenins (/ˌkærəˈɡiːnənz/ karr-ə-ghee-nənz from Irish carraigín, “little rock”) are a family of linear sulphated polysaccharides that are extracted from red edible seaweeds. They are widely used in the food industry, for their gelling, thickening, and stabilizing properties. There are 3 types of Carrageenans but I will not go into that detail. That’s why they made Google!   Seaweed as a whole is not bad for humans but animals do not eat seaweed. There is the first problem. The second is that there are many questions arising about humans ingesting this stuff and testing in animals caused some problems including cancer. Rats are animals right-so would we not be more concerned about it being put in pet food even if we think it is safe for humans? Lets look at some of the questions being raised and what they do to seaweed to make it into what manufacturers can use.

After they harvest the seaweed it is dried, then put in bales and sent to a manufacturer. It is then ground, sifted to remove sand and other impurities and then washed. It is treated with a hot alkali bath and then the cellulose is removed by centrifugation and filtration. This solution, through evaporation is concentrated and then dried to be grounded to a certain texture.

The F.D.A. considers Carrageenan safe as a direct additive “when used in the amount necessary as a emulsifier, stabilizer, or thicker in foods, except those standardized foods that do not provide for such use.” So because of their approval it is in almost every dairy product, deli meats, prepared meals, coffee creamers, and the list goes on. It is also in almost all pet foods, canned food to be specific, especially the cheaper brands.

Carrageenan researcher Joanne Tobacman, MD, associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Illinois School of Medicine at Chicago,“Carrageenan predictably causes inflammation, which can lead to ulcerations and bleeding,” she found it irritates the gut by activating a immune response which causes inflammation. She also found it caused GI cancer in lab animals.

This debate over whether Carrageenan is safe has been going on since the 1960’s. They had started linking it to GI disease in the lab animals which included ulcerative colitis, colon cancer and intestinal tumors 50 years ago.

Other names for this substance are Algas, Algue Rouge Marine, Carrageen, Carrageenin, Carragenano, Carragenina, Carragheenan, Carraghénane, Carraghénine, Chondrus crispus, Chondrus Extract, Euchema species, Extrait de Mousse d’Irlande, Galgarine, Gigartina chamisso. of exposure to Carrageenan and occurrence of colonic ulcerations and GI neoplasms in animals.

In conclusion, I believe humans should be limiting their exposure to this in their foods but I feel more strongly it should not be in our pets food. They are less than half our size therefore it becomes toxic to their systems much faster. If it has killed lab animals do you seriously think it should be fed to our pets? Read those labels folks and you decide on your health and your pets health. For me it is a easy decision, my pet food does not contain it at all and neither do the majority of my foods. Problem solved.
Okay my little chickadees may you have a blessed day!

Meat by-products

Well isn’t this a can of worms! Literally! Meat by products in the first 3 ingredients is always alarming to me because it is a signal of the quality. Thats like looking at steak and deciding between T-bone and flank steak. Now if you are looking for the lesser of evil at least look for named by-product such as chicken, turkey or beef. At least you will know what animals parts were thrown in a vat and cooked at high temperatures for hours, fat skimmed off to put in dog food later and then dried! YUM!When a label says animal by-products or meat, poultry by-products it is now a masquarade of what animal and is it road kill, euthanized animals from Vets offices, dead or diseased farm animals or zoo animals. Spin the wheel! This is very concerning because what drugs did they use to euthanize that animal, what horrible disease did the animal die with and yep its all cooked up in one vat just for your pooch! YUM! YUM! Fast Food Nation author Eric Schlosser writes, “Although leading American manufacturers promise never to put rendered pets into their pet food, it is still legal to do so.”

We know that the animals that are killed every day is for human consumption. That means all the edible, good tasting, healthy meat is removed and sold to humans. The waste product left such as heads, necks, lungs, entrails, feet and fat are served up for Fido! That would be beef by products! Chicken by product gives junior those tasty chicken feet to munch on and call a meal!

Some bags will profess to have passed animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures and provides complete and balanced nutrition. Feeding trials are very loosely monitored and have very weak standards. Basically a few dogs and I mean a few, are fed the diet for approximately 26 weeks and bloods are drawn after to evaluate health. The bloods drawn only evaluate 4 things, hemoglobin, packed cell volume, serum alkaline phosphatase and albumin. Only a few of the dogs must stay reasonably healthy and the blood levels just have to be maintained within the normal range. It usually take more than 26 weeks for nutritional problems to show up. So in actuality its possible those same dogs dropped dead at the end of the year. Doesn’t this make you feel safe?

If you want a good horror story to read at bedtime, look into purchasing FOOD PETS DIE You will never be the same again when you walk into a pet store.

So what did we learn today children? Meat by products bad. Chicken, Beef, Turkey by products so-so. All in all, you want to look for the actual meat! Buy only chicken, beef, turkey, duck or other mammals but not the by product of. Remember, by product means cheap, cheap to make, cheaper for you to buy yes but profit for the manufacturer.

Gee I think tomorrow I will tackle with a little more depth on Carrageenan but for now I must meditate from the stress!!!!

love to ya

Purina shame on you

Yesterday I got started on this dog food recall and lawsuit thing then decided I wanted to look more at what Purina makes. What is really scary is they make Veterinary diets that must be prescribed by a Vet! I told you before that Veterinarians are like doctors-they are not trained well in diet so forgive them but beware! Here is a vet prescribed diet I found that would cost you $30.00 for a case of 12 cans…..Purina Pro Plan Veterinary diets EN gastroenteric formula canned foodMeat by-products (slaughter house waste), water sufficient for processing(means they will have to add thickners and gel making stuff), barley, rice, liver, chicken, soy protein isolate, glycerin, medium-chain triglyceride vegetable oil, guar gum (there is that thickner!), inulin, calcium sulfate, calcium phosphate, potassium chloride, salt, added color and vitamins to follow remainder of list. This is how it is described “high digestibility, moderate fat, added zinc, low fiber and more”. Sure rice is gentle but they put soy in this. Dogs do not eat soy. If you want to know why soy is bad-type in and look up soy in dog food. This veterinarian is right on when it comes to diet. Oh and did you see they added color so you nor your dog would throw up when you open the can! For this price and the needing of a vet prescription don’t you expect more? I guess it is no worse than this brand they make and at least chicken is the first ingredient-Purina pro plan- Chicken, brewers rice, whole grain wheat, poultry by-product meal (this means there is a lot of chicken feet and bones in it)(natural source of glucosamine), corn gluten meal, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), whole grain corn, soy flakes, soybean meal(as if soy flakes were not enough!) and the list goes on. How does this compare to another canned food they make without prescription for sensitive stomach and skin? Lets look…….Purina Pro Plan select adult classic sensitive skin and stomach salmon and rice entree canned food.- Water sufficient for processing (the very first ingredient should not be water, be worried), salmon, rice, fish, potato protein, corn oil, carrots, potassium chloride, carrageenan, locust bean gum (remember all the water now they have to thicken it up), xanthan gum, guar gum, and rest is vitamins added. Remember what I said about carrageenan? It is a thickener additive with problems in causing stomach issues besides making them sick in the end.

Here it is straight from WIKIPEDIA—Carrageenan has undergone many long-term dietary studies under defined regulatory conditions en route to its current global regulatory status. While some indicate that carrageenan safely passes through rat GI tracts without adverse effect when it is a dietary ingredient,[2] other animal dietary studies have observed colitis-like disease and tumour promotion.[3] In the late 2000s, some scientists raised concerns about whether the amount of “degraded carrageenan” (poligeenan) in food-grade carrageenan may lead to health problems, leading to a debate in the research literature.[4] It has yet to be determined whether such observations are pertinent to dietary safety considerations. This is for humans! It is worse for animals especially cats. So why is a pet food company putting carrageenan in a food for sensitive stomachs? I just made my point!

Read your ingredients! That includes what the Vet has in their office which most times is the worst. If it does not look right instead of spending money on crappy food go spend your money on a veterinarian nutritionist. Ask your vet for one or google it with your zip code. Just as with your health, do not put your health or your pets health in a manufacturers hands. READ, READ, READ.
Okay I will stop the tirade!
Be well my friends

Back on the pet food  tirade!

Yesterday, I received a email from the dog food advisor on a recalled brand of raw dog food due to Salmonella. I later received a email from Dr Becker stating that 3000 complaints have been filed against Purina for their brand Beneful due to sickening and killing peoples dogs now leading to a lawsuit. I receive these kind of emails almost daily.   It is so important these days to REALLY check the ingredients going into your body and your pets.

Here are the ingredients for this Purina Beneful-
Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols, rice flour, beef, soy flour, meat and bone meal, propylene glycol, sugar, tricalcium phosphate, salt, phosphoric acid, potassium chloride, animal digest, sorbic acid (a preservative), mono and dicalcium phosphate, dried spinach, dried peas, dried carrots, L-Lysine mono hydrochloride, calcium propionate (a preservative), choline chloride, zinc sulfate, Vitamin E supplement, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, Red 40, niacin, Vitamin A supplement, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, copper sulfate, Vitamin B-12 supplement, calcium pantothenate, Blue 2, thiamine mononitrate, garlic oil, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin supplement, Vitamin D-3 supplement, calcium iodate, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), folic acid, biotin, sodium selenite.

The very first item is corn, then chicken by product meal, neither suitable and 3rd item again is corn! Look at the ingredients! I would not feed my pet rat this food and yet because Purina says “A special blend of wholesome ingredients, including grains, real beef, and accents of vitamin-rich veggies. It gives dogs the complete nutrition they need and a taste they love.” everyone believes it. These companies are out to make money folks. They do not really care what is in it as long as it will pass inspection and you will buy this shit! Purina has been around for a long time and they do not have any products but maybe 2 that I would even consider feeding my animal. The people who kept buying and feeding this stuff to their animals must take some of the blame. The ingredients were right there on that bag. Just because a company whom is out to make money tells you something it isn’t necessarily true ESPECIALLY with pet food. There is no big brother standing there looking at pet food saying it is not nutritious, that’s your job!

It is also important to look at how often a pet product manufacturer has recalls. For instance, 2006 the biggest recall in history involving several manufacturers occurred due to contaminated rice protein and wheat gluten imported from China. The Chinese intentionally put melamine into the wheat gluten and rice resulting in 1000’s of deaths of animals. Here are all the recalls just since January-total of 8.

Jump your bones pet treats (1/1/15)

J.J.Fuds raw pet food (1/23/15) they would not disclose why the recall

Big Bark dog treats (2./1/15)

J.J.Fuds raw pet food (2/6/15) Listeria and Salmonella (I would stay away from this food)

Pet International beef trachea (2/11/15)

Nutrisca dog food (2/11/15)

Nylabone dog chews (4/26/15) Salmonella puppy starter kit

OC Raw dog food-5/16/16) salmonella
While it is good that they are doing recalls more frequently it is not just food but treats that are in danger, especially if you use poultry in their food or treats. Even humans are now threatened by eating poultry these days and the laws for companies handling poultry for human consumption are much more strict than pet food. If you do not have it go to DOG FOOD ADVISOR and sign up for email alerts for your pets sake. Please find out what company makes your dog food and look them up under recalls. If they have frequent recalls reconsider the brand of food you are using.

This is definitely a consumer beware story and if we are going to change things we will do it with money. When people stop buying Purina they will have no other choice but to change or die.

For anyone reading this I beg you to take 5 minutes and go get your pets food and look at the ingredients. If you would not feed it to yourself then why would you do it to your pet? Lets stop the lawsuits and really get them where it counts-at the store. New companies are emerging because consumers are becoming more aware of pet nutrition and I support those who take our pets health seriously. My money is supporting companies who care and I hope you will care whom your money supports as well.
May our pets live long!!! VIVA LA DOGGIES

Silence with eyes wide open

Yesterday for the first time in a long time, the sun came out. Texas has had enormous amounts of rain and has seen very little sunshine so when it comes out, I rush out! It was breezy but muggy with temperatures hovering in mid 80”s which is the only good thing about all of this rain, temperatures are staying in the 80’s. I filled bird feeders that had gone empty and cleaned up some of the messes from the latest storms.   A few hours later I noticed a group of 10-15 birds had gathered at the newly filled bird feeder and were fighting. I decided to sit down and watch this calamity. I sat there for 1 hour in silence just observing these birds and watching the birdseed dwindle. Squirrels eventually showed up to join in the festive occasion. For 1 hour as I sat there just watching, not judging just watching in silence. It was wonderful. I wondered after, how many people actually take the time out of their day to sit in nature and just watch? So if you live somewhere that is having better weather than we are I encourage you take 15-30 minutes and go outside. Sit somewhere comfortable. Observe what is around you but don’t label things such as that is a elm tree or that is a bluebird, just observe. Like in meditation notice your breathing but keep your eyes open and watch. Look at the clouds, the form of the trees and their leaves. Watch as birds fly into the trees and watch what they do. Experience the air and if it has a smell, how does it feel on your face? Meanwhile do not allow your mind to process thought. If you begin to have a thought bring your attention fully on the tree or bird. Not only does it make you very relaxed and gathers your mind but it truly connects you with what is around you. If nothing else you may learn something about animals as I did yesterday. Did you know squirrels and birds will coexist when feeding but squirrels will fight between themselves the whole time making loud noises during the fight, whipping their bushy tails back and forth? The birds also argued amongst themselves doing a flying jump on another bird to get him to move to another spot. Amazing what you see and learn when you just sit and observe.
Have a amazing day my friend

Becoming a nurse when I was very young I did not realize I was compassionate. I just knew I liked helping others. As time passed my compassion grew as I shared my patients tears, fears and pain as well as joy, love and peace. I began to realize my shared likenesses compared to my differences. With meditation that blossomed into my connection with all and the growing compassion for everything around me.   I started this blog to ignite thoughts. To hopefully get questions to begin in you. I am the embers and you are the kindling and it only takes a small amount of embers to start a fire. If I can help one person to begin to question their actions and thought processes, if I can ignite a increasing compassion in one human towards another human and better yet towards all living things then this is all worth it. I come to you with such compassion and true love for you all with the hope that a few minds can become more enlightened than they were yesterday. With the changing of one mind the whole race of humans improves. Today I discuss compassion with you!

Compassion is defined as a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. All people are suffering. There is no one who has escaped the human thing called suffering. While I know that most everyone has great compassion for the people of Nepal and what they have been through and will be going through not all people have compassion for people who do not look like they are suffering. During a tragedy, our compassion comes out because we can physically see suffering. We know we would not want to be in their shoes. During 911, I witnessed huge amounts of compassion but a few years after it was like a fire that burned down to the embers again. It always has to be a horrible tragedy before we humans can rise with compassion.

But as I said before, I learned through 30 years of nursing, EVERYONE has pain and fear. There are very few exceptions to this except maybe Buddhist monks and spiritual gurus. Suffering comes from that pain and fear. Pain from life’s experiences as children and what we told ourselves as children as well as painful experiences as teens and adults. Fear is what is shown from these experiences.

There is basically only 2 emotions which are love and fear and everything stems from these two.

From love we get positive emotions such as compassion, empathy, joy, friendship, partnership, strength, honesty, forgiveness, kindness, patience, respect, and selflessness. Fear brings negative emotions such as anger, distrust, bitterness, retaliation, hate, ignorance, guilt and resentment.Everything you do and see around you comes from either of these emotions. The key is to ask the question of “does what I am seeing or doing in this moment come from fear or love?”

When you see a man give change to a teller for a woman who has come up short of the change this comes from love. When you see a young woman provide kindness to a old man who can’t get a packet of ketchup open, you are witnessing love. When a man sees a injured dog and stops and puts the dog in his car to get it medical attention, you are witnessing love. When a neighbor goes next door to check on her neighbor whom she has not seen in weeks, you are seeing love. When a disaster strikes and many people take up donations to help their neighbors again you are witnessing love.

When I see rioting in the streets such as in Ferguson, M.O. I am witnessing fear. The anger, distrust and retaliation all stem from fear. I see fear in ISIS, I see fear in Hitler, I see fear in murder, I see fear more than I see love. Abuse is fear. Killing is fear. War is fear. Greed is fear. Fear comes in many disguises but recognizing it is easy if you put it to the litmus test of “is it love or fear?”

When I see fear I think of a fearful child. When a child is afraid they need comforting, love and compassion. When fear is present giving more fear back only heightens their experience of fear and makes it worse. Fear against fear will never work. When you determine a act is being done out of fear not love it is a sign that compassion is needed. It might even be compassion for yourself. When you realize you have performed a act that did not come from love you must have kindness and compassion for yourself because when you know better, you do better. Love unfortunately is like a tender flower, that after it is planted must be tended to and nurtured to grow and spread. Fear however is like a weed, it only takes a seed to grow quickly in short time and spread. I am not saying if a riot is going on you go down and begin trying to throw your arms around them. I am asking you to watch with compassion and when speaking about the incident speak with compassion. Our words are powerful. There is no right or wrong just our reality of it and society’s instruction of it. Fear is fear and because of that my heart aches for so many. You may feel someone is wrong but if it is from fear, if you retaliate with words or actions, you too are moving from fear. I remember reading about a South African tribe that punishes with love. When a member of the tribe commits a act against another member of the tribe, he/she is placed in the center of a circle of tribe members. They proceed to tell them how good they are and remind them of all the good they have done. After days of telling the offender all the good he has done and the goodness within him the circle is broken, a party is held and he is welcomed back into the tribe. WOW! Imagine if we changed how we punished people in this country and around the world. I challenge you to think differently. Do you want to come from weakness which is what fear does or do you want to come from strength which lies in love? I choose strength. I hope you will too.
Peace and love friends

O.C.D. The purest form of brain poop

I know a beautiful person who has the misfortune of something called O.C.D. or obsessive compulsive disorder; which  by now if you are not familiar with means her brain will take one thought and make a day or 2 or a week of it.  A simple notion of “ I wonder if my brakes are going bad?”, becomes a day of hell if she is driving. From that thought forward her brain will look for confirmation of the brakes going bad. There is no switch to turn it off. She is unable to see the thoughts and what they are doing and just stop them. They become a freight train without a engineer.
Thoughts for her are like a malignant tumor in our bodies growing and taking over other organs. As her thoughts continue down this dark path her body then begins to travel with them by producing chemicals of fight or flight and increasing her heart rate, blood pressure, respiration’s and stomach irritation. Her body is in a continual motion of ready to flee.
People with O.C.D. do not have the same control we do over shutting our thoughts down or in the least subsiding them for a few minutes. Every thought for them has the potential to become the runaway train. When bad things happen to them it may not end for days or weeks. Their brains can’t  search out for any good even if you point it out. Because their brains are so powerful for them and their bodies have become tuned to run with the mind, they actually can stay in this perpetual state for months even though having moments of calm or even peacefulness.
The people with O.C.D. know they have active minds but never know how to stop it. They are very aware when being told something, going to a doctor, watching the news that in any moment their peace can be shattered and taken over by panic. Can you imagine this? Can you begin to find compassion for someone who actually lives in a state of panic? When their thoughts have them captive, you can not as a reasonable, mature person hold them accountable for what they say. Trust me, when it is over and normal thought processes have started they are sorry for what they may have said or done. This too creates more horrible thoughts of possibly hurting another feelings or causing someone pain. It is a endless nightmare.
Be kind and patient when someone’s mind has taken control over them. Be reassuring and help them to find logic where it does not exist at the time. Help them to find the one piece of logic they can grasp on to for dear sake. Love them because in those moments they do not feel loved by anyone or the universe. They feel so alone. They are trapped in the fear of what these thoughts are showing them. It may take many days for you to finally show them a piece of hope but stick with it. They are worth it.
I am trying to get this friend to learn to meditate which science has proven to be the most effective treatment for this disorder in fact a complete cure in many cases. Meditation will teach her about her thoughts and train her brain to listen to her when she goes into breathing awareness and quiet down. It can put a engineer back into her freight train to help navigate the train when it starts down the tracks.
If you have this disorder I can not stress enough to you that meditation is the only pill you will ever need. It is not a quick fix but with time it is a permanent fix. Your thoughts are not you. Almost every thought you have is meaningless. Your brain is like a monkey after a banana it can’t reach. Your peace and solitude lays literally in your breath. INHALE…………EXHALE.

Be kind to others and love to you my friend.

A picture of my mind

I am laughing to myself right now when I contemplate telling you how my mind looks. What a opener for a joke! It looks like…….? Well frankly right now except for the words I am forming in my brain it is pretty empty. And yes I am blonde. See a joke in the making.
During most of my day my mind is either thinking occasionally about the task I am focused on and what it entails or my breathing. That is pretty much it. For mindless tasks such as washing dishes, vacuuming, ironing and other automatic tasks my mind is just watching. Watching the task being performed but ready to step in for any deviation in the task. Over all it is quiet. The ticker tape of thoughts that run continuously throughout your day are just that for me, a observed ticker tape of thoughts. I really do not see them much anymore.  When I am in a “thinking mode” it is totally present in this moment and what steps are needed for that task.
Someone asked me sometime ago if it was some kind of “Nirvana” that I experienced. I laughed, then laughed harder. I explained the “Nirvana” is from the fact I am not caught up in my thoughts. My day is not riddled with various thoughts of not particularly great thoughts from past events or of future events I have no control over. I would not give this the label of ‘Nirvana” but instead as I like to call it “bliss in my quiet room”. Nirvana to me is some kind of enlightenment which I am not. I don’t even think I am close but I do know what peace looks like. Is my mind quiet 24 hours a day with never a worry or unpure thought? Are you kidding me? I am still a human! But on average yes my mind is quieter, peaceful and I am not as quick to judgement as I once was and have more clarity in life.
How long did it take me of doing meditation before this happened? Well I can not exactly answer this because in some ways I have always lived in the moment but just did not notice until later in life. I use to think I had a poor memory with possible Alzheimer’s setting in at 25! I could barely remember my childhood and as time passed I could not always remember events the way others could. The only imprinting on my memory seemed to be around music, which would lead me to memories of who I was with and where. It took me years to realize that I was so present that I do not seem to make memories the ways other do. Even the bad things that I have had in my life after a few years seem to fade into obscurity and just become a distant memory with very few feelings associated with it. This also helps me in forgiveness. If you don’t remember things you can’t hold on to stuff. What a gift!
I would say over the past 4 years I noticed my mind becoming much quieter and peaceful with daily meditation. But you must understand, I practice meditation and mindfulness constantly. I no longer am conscious of it which is kind of weird to me still. When I walk i notice how my feet feel as i walk and everything around me, no thinking. When I sit outside I am just aware of being in that space and what is around me and how the breeze feels and air smells. Reading is dangerous to me because when I read, I read every word noticing how the pages feel and get absorbed in the story. I have taken up audible (audio books) for this reason. I seem to put a different level of concentration in audio books compared to reading them. I frequently during my day take what I call my power 5 minutes, where I close my eyes and just breath, not really trying to meditate because 5 minutes is not enough to get into that state however it keeps my mind calm and peaceful for hours.
What is it like when I go into a meditative state? HMMMMM? The best way to describe it is like sleeping wide awake and floating. Weird right? I am sitting there with my eyes closed, back straight, legs crossed. In the past within 1 minute my mind would be racing and I would become irritated at having to sit there when I had so much to do. It was a fight every day just to do 10 minutes. Overtime, I began to notice these thoughts more quickly as well as the annoyance and just ignore them and go back to watching my breath. That’s how you know your making progress. Then after several months of 20-30 minutes I suddenly one day went into this kind of dreamy state like I was asleep but I knew I wasn’t in a dreamy kind of way. I could feel myself sitting up straight yet at the same time it was if I was someone else and watching her. It was just too cool. I continued this for sometime until something disturbed me and I came out of it. I had been in meditation for close to a hour. I was hooked. From that day forward I began meditating for no less than 30 minutes 2x a day. I do set a alarm if I have things to do because this is such a wonderful feeling of total relaxation and something I think of my connection with my big Kahuna. It is a hour of silent prayer and communion with my maker.
I will also add that when I started I used a program called Holosync, which if your interested you can look up at and read on it. It uses mind entrapment which in the beginning was so helpful and I still use it today in the mornings when my mind is a little frisky to have to sit there when it just got out of bed! It is wonderful for beginners because of the brain entrapment, you really do experience meditation quickly. It is also supposed to help your nervous system basically work out traumas from the past which I guess I could say it must because I have much fewer issues these days than I use to. I do not wish to become the poster child for Holosync but it does work but it can only be used for a set amount of time a day otherwise it can make you so irritated after, it is just not worth it. I have seen where people said they had problems with it but I have to say, if you have a lot of stuff bottled up inside chances are you WILL have problems with it. That is a good thing. As Bill the designer of it says “Be okay with whatever is happening.”
Start today for 5 minutes, with your eyes closed just focus on your breathing and watch your thoughts but don’t be a part of them. Experience bliss in the quiet room.

Be well my Cheerios!

Brain poop

Last night when I finally got into bed, as I laid there in the bliss of my bed, it slowly came to my awareness how dam tired I was. I then realized how achy my legs were. Slowly my awareness blossomed into my toes even hurt and gosh my elbow is starting!. Within a few moments my entire body became a wildfire of aches, so much so I had to turn over to try to find relief. After a few minutes of this I caught myself with these observances and quickly focused on my breathing, inhale and exhale. Within minutes the body pain returned to mildly aching

legs and that was all. Interesting how once my mind noticed one thing it quickly searched out and created more of what I was observing. This is what our brains are so well equipped to do. Find more of what we need at the time.
I think back in our past when we were on the plains, deserts and jungles our brains knew when we were looking for food to be very aware and when we did find food to notice quickly more of it. When we found berries, our brains could spot it very quickly therefore producing more of what we needed. The problem is today we grocery shop, have no predators after us, our daily needs are met and that part of our brain is not needed like it once was. That part of our brain feels obsolete and so today it focuses on what we focus on. So when we focus on sadness our brains will search to find more things to keep us sad. If we focus on anger and what someone did to us, our brains will quickly come up with more bad stuff that person did to us. In fact our brains remember bad stuff much more than good things.
Have you ever noticed how many horrible thoughts you can have about certain people but find it difficult to search through the memory banks to find even 2 good things. That’s because the brain is designed for survival and that means paying more attention to bad than good. Our brains still are in the plains, deserts and jungles but our bodies are living in modern cities and towns with food everywhere, minimal danger threats and our basic needs met daily. Thousands of years that our brains have been keeping us alive it is hard to drop this and develop a new way, a better way. This is why there will be wars, killing and other violence until each individual recognizes what their brain is capable of and decides to do differently.
Mindfulness and meditation have taught me what my mind is capable of. I have seen the illusions it creates to make me believe something is true. I have seen the great lengths it will go to trying to disturb the peace. It thinks it is my friend when in reality most times it becomes my enemy. Meditation is the cage I have built for it. When my mind begins its usual hunt for bad I throw it in the meditation box and it quiets down. Even right now I instantly noticed a breath and my mind quit! It works but only with practice and patience.
I can’t  even describe how wonderful things are these days compared to many years ago. Having endless nights, awake worrying or contemplating. Having endless days of anger, frustration and worry. Having fleeting moments of joy only to be taken by my mind to a distant place of anger or sadness.
My mind is quiet and can be quieted quickly when I need it quiet. I have control over it and it knows it.

Love to you

And you!!!

We looked at your pets and their diet but what about yours? How healthy are you eating these days? Too many people are saying they just don’t have time to prepare food every meal or to eat a meal. Your body is your engine and it takes fuel to run it. If you continue to put a poor grade fuel in your body eventually the machine will begin to fail. Sometimes the mechanics (doctors) can fix it and get it running again; however many times the repairs are too significant.
Back in the early 90’s, I worked with a cardiac surgeon whom to me was brilliant. One afternoon, he and I started a conversation on his beliefs about cholesterol and heart problems associated with it. He said at that time they really did not know if it was truly the culprit in heart disease and his personal opinion was it was only a small puzzle piece in the bigger picture. He told me that the most important thing to learn was MODERATION. The other thing he felt was important was to only eat things that came from the ground, walked on land or swam in oceans and lakes. It was from that day I changed everything I did in relation to my consumption of food.
I do not eat the same foods more than twice a week. The only beverage I consume daily is water or coffee or tea. Sodas, Snapple, Starbucks in a jar,  and all the other beverages for sale out there did not start on the earth.  While some of the ingredients may have gotten their start on the earth, man then dipped his hand in and added ingredients that did not start there. I do not buy frozen foods except pure frozen vegetables or fruits and they can not have anything added to them. I consume vegetables daily and a wide variety along with fruits but I rotate them daily. I eat chicken sparingly unless I buy organic because of the antibiotics in poultry. I now eat Quinoa instead of rice because of the arsenic in rice. I eat a lot of varieties of fish. I have over time diminished my use of beef and pork to maybe once a month. I have decreased the amount of sugar I use and mainly use raw sugar or honey.
I do drink wine and occasional spirits such as whiskey. I stopped using margarine and only use Ghee (which is clarified butter) or butter. I use avocado, olive or safflower oils. Over time just following the simple rule of moderation and only land or sea foods it became easy to know what to pick from a menu at a restaurant. This way of eating has maintained my weight, lowered my cholesterol, improved my health and over all made me feel better. So how do you do this? Simple.
Every 2 weeks you can have 2 portions of beef, pork, chicken, turkey and fish. This can include eggs as well. If you fix chicken on Monday, you will not have it again till at least Friday. Vegetables you may eat as many and as often as you like although if you are not buying organic then please rotate these somewhat as well and wash them well. Fruits eat as much as you like but again variety is the key and wash them well. For breakfast you may eat oatmeal but not packaged instant, grits but not packaged instant, eggs, and boxed cereal that is either pure multi grain or one grain but be careful with this and read labels. Beverages can be water, tea, coffee, milk or fruit juice if you squeeze it yourself. The prepared juices have too much sugar as well as they add other juices such as apple which these days apple juice is a problem because of arsenic. You can have cheeses but not processed, and only twice a week. Breads can be a issue because of what they add to it to preserve it as well as sugar. If you can, buy local multi grain bread from a bakery or get a bread machine and start making your own. Remember, eat everything in moderation and only land and sea. What you are doing is diminishing the toxic levels from the pesticides they spray on our foods as well as now in our soils, the antibiotics they give to animals and all the chemicals they put in processed foods.
With the rise in pancreatic cancer, intestinal cancers and liver cancer I do not believe people can continue to eat the way we have for the past 30 to 40 years. It is slowly killing us. Will this guarantee you  that you or a family member will not have cancer? No. But it will diminish your chances of getting a deadly cancer,  compared to your chances if you continue to eat out of boxes, cans and already prepared meals. It is never to late to change the course of your life.

This brilliant doctor was a head of the times and the information he passed to me has been invaluable and easy!
I hope you will consider it today as well.

Be healthy and Be well my friends
